MS LEDA MAERSK - Suez Canal (Part 1) - Anchorage at Port of Suez
The project:
SUEZ CANAL passage - Part 1 (1997)
Containervessel M/V LEDA MAERSK is about to anchor at Port of Suez and the gangway has to be set at sea for the Pilot to enter the ship prior the anchorage.
It was my duty to perform that task as it was on my watch that we arrived at the position.
The gangway has always to be set by at least two crewmembers and Hans - one of four AB´s - helped me.
At that time (1997) I still was an apprentice and had been onboard the vessel for approx. 3 months - and I had still 3 months left before I could return to my wife in Denmark.
I got Thomas (another AB) to act as my cameraman for the sake of this footage that you´re about to watch.
I hope you like what you see as it is fragments of real life onboard - no artificial showmanship - just documentation of a plain true worksituation onboard a vessel.
VHS-C footage taken on november the 14th. 1997 and the tape was stashed away for years in my cellar. Digitally remastered in 2010.
